Product overview

This is Origin’s workhorse cutter. Ideal geometry and material for all wood types, from MDF and plywood to all hardwoods. Solid carbide composition keeps your edge sharp even after hours of use, and the two-flute upcut geometry directs chips up and out of your cuts, resulting in cooler operating temperatures, less edge burning, and a longer cutter life.  8 mm shank fits in Origin’s stock collet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, this bit will fit the 8 mm collet that is supplied with Origin.

As a general rule of thumb for cutting wood, it’s best to never cut deeper than the diameter of the bit. So for a 6 mm bit, you should not cut deeper than 6 mm in a single pass. Because every material is different, it’s best to perform test cuts to find the ideal pass depth and cut specs when working with a new material.

This depends on the material you are cutting. You can find more information on recommended settings for Origin based on material types in this article: material recommendations.

The up-spiral design pulls material up and out of your cuts. This can leave a little fuzz on the top edge of your material but this is easily removed with a quick rough-up with fine grit sandpaper. Adjacent spoilboards are always recommended when making cuts beyond the edge of your material

The 6 mm up-spiral router bit can cut to a maximum depth of 21 mm.

The 6 mm up-spiral router bit is a great option for cutting mortises and tenons up to a total depth of 21 mm. The up-spiral design removes material quickly, resulting in excellent cut quality.

Resin, sap, and adhesives will build up on your cutter edge over time. This generates more friction on your cutter and accelerates edge degradation. Keep your cutters clean with a small brass brush, citrus cleaner and a rag.
