Studio Update: Goodbye to Lite → Hello to Opening all of Studio’s Features to all Users

Today we’re excited to announce changes to Shaper Studio which will open up access to Studio's full feature set for all users, not just subscribers.

When we conceived Studio Lite, we imagined it as more of a space to try out a reduced-feature version of Studio, before jumping into the fully-featured version of Studio. Thanks to the feedback from our amazing community, what we’ve learned is that many Lite users never go on to discover the most powerful features that Studio has to offer. This isn’t the best experience, so we’re making some changes.

Beginning November 13th, all users will be able to access what were once subscriber-only features –  such as ShapeShifter, Origin Plan and Review Modes, and the unlimited access to premade designs and fonts. All users, whether you’re a subscriber or not, will be able to create as many designs as you like with Studio using this complete set of features.

ShapeShifter, unlimited fonts, Plan and Review Modes, will be open to all users.

So what’s the catch? For paying subscribers, the Studio you know and love just keeps getting better. We are absolutely committed to building the easiest-to-use digital design tool built specifically for craftspeople. For those folks only casually using Shaper Studio (and not yet a paying subscriber), you’ll still be able to create as many new designs as you’d like, while also enjoying Studio’s full set of features, but beginning November 13th, you will be limited to three exports a month from Studio (downloads or file syncing with Shaper Origin). Said another way: while Studio Lite is being sunsetted, there will now be better ways for the casual user to access everything Studio has to offer, albeit on a limited basis.

Managing your Files Moving Forward

If you’re already a Studio subscriber, you won’t notice any changes in how files are managed on Studio or Shaper Origin – you need not read any further! However, if you aren’t a Studio subscriber, on November 13th, we’ll make a copy of all of your existing Studio designs, convert them to SVGs, and make them available to you in a folder named Studio Lite Archive within “My Files.” All of those designs are yours to keep (obviously) and we don’t want to prevent access to existing designs that you may have created before this transition takes place next month. Files within this folder can be freely downloaded, without hitting any export limits. You'll also find them in this folder on Origin when connected to Wifi.

Studio Lite users' designs made prior to November 13th will appear in this folder on Origin, when connected to wifi.

You can also download any and all existing designs you may have created with Studio Lite, before November 13th. After November 13th, those users not subscribed to Studio will have full usage of the design tool, but will be limited to three exports a month.

We created Shaper Studio to help craftspeople more easily go from idea to digital design, and this transition on Studio will help give more people more access to the tool. And stay tuned – we have more exciting updates that we’ll be announcing in the upcoming months. Thanks for being a part of this Studio journey with us; we’re excited you’re here, and we’re just getting started.
